2011 : Tokyo Public Park - Hamarikyu Gardens

2011 :Yokohama World Philatelic Exhibition

There are many public parks around Tokyo, most of the parks are beautiful and well maintained, hence, tourists will have to pay an entrance fee to get into the parks for a stroll. I must say it is worth to take a peep into one of these parks. I visited Hamarikyu Gardens which was a villa of the shogun Tokugawa family.

2011 : Asakusa,Tokyo - A populous tourist spot

2011 : Yokohama World Philatelic Exhibition

Traveling in Tokyo is very convenient with the Tokyo Railway Network, tourist spots are located at the train or subway stations. I took a train to the Asakusa station and spent many hours on this "must visit tourist spot of Tokyo" . Within Asakusa, there is a landmark - The Five Storied Pagoda which was built in 1973 standing approx. 50+  meters high, and like all pagodas, running down the centre is a giant pillar of Japanese Cypress tree wood. Around this, the five stories are loosely packed, resulting in a highly flexible structure able to withstand earth tremours.

Noted a vast Lotus Pond in the Tokyo Ueno Zoo, with white and Pink Lotus flowers blooming . It was a spectacular sight indeed ...

2011 : Philanippon '11 agent waiting at the Exit point of the Narita Airport

2011 : Yokohama World Philatelic Exhibition

At the Exit point of the Narita Airport, I could see my name on the welcoming poster, yes, that's right, the Philanippon '11 agent was there to arrange my transport transfer to YOKOHAMA.

2011 : Ueno Park, Tokyo, Japan

2011 : Yokohama World Philatelic Exhibition

Owing to financial constraint, the Philanippon 2011 organiser cancelled the Excursion tour which was earlier planned in the official programme. I took the liberty to take the railway to visit Tokyo. Having known the famous public park - Ueno, hence, I made this a compulsory itinerary.
